Madam Rebecca Agroh was born on May 5, 1925, to the late Jonathan Brandsford Agroh of Have Agorme and Mrs. Maria Agroh (née Tsitsimboe) of Vakpo Kpodzi. She attended primary and secondary schools in Ho, Amedzofe, and Peki, often being the only girl among the boys. In Peki, she found a close companion in the late Mrs. Esther Ocloo (née Nkulenu), the renowned female entrepreneur.
After a brief stint as a nurse and teacher in Hohoe, Madam Agroh joined the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development in 1954. She worked with dedication, retiring in May 1988 as Assistant Director. Throughout her career, she was deeply committed to the welfare of women, particularly rural women, and believed in empowering them through education and skills training to achieve financial independence.
Her passion for women’s development led her to work across Ghana, in areas such as Kete Krachi, Worawora, Jasikan, Ho, Tsito, Bolgatanga, Sunyani, Kumasi, and Madina. She also worked internationally, providing consultancy services for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). From 1976 to 1978, she worked as a consultant in Lesotho, Swaziland, South Africa’s homelands, and Israel.
To enhance her expertise, Madam Agroh pursued studies in Mass Education and Community Development at the University of Ghana and Connecticut College in New London. Known for her professionalism, integrity, and accountability, her legacy continues through the foundation established by her son, Ken, to honor her commitment to women’s development.

The Rebecca Agroh Memorial Foundation was founded by Dr. Ken Kwaku in honor of his late mother, Madam Rebecca Rosebud Agroh. Dr. Ken Kwaku holds a PhD in Political Economy, with a concentration in Development Management, Public Policy, and International Business and Relations, from the University of Toronto. He also earned a BA in Economics and Political Science from McGill University, Canada, and attended Harvard Business School.
With over three decades of experience as an economist at the World Bank Group, Dr. Ken Kwaku held several senior positions, including Chief MIGA Africa Representative. He has also served in various advisory roles across Africa. Between 1995 and 1998, he was seconded from the World Bank Group as an Advisor to the Namibian Government.

Victor Azure graduated with first-class honors in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Ghana. After graduation, he served as a research associate at the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy (LECIAD) before pursuing legal studies at the University of Ghana, where he earned his LL.B. He subsequently completed his studies at the Ghana School of Law, earning a qualifying certificate in law practice. While in the Ghana School of Law, he served as the editor of the Ghana School of Law Journal. After completing his pupillage training in corporate and commercial transactions, Mr Azure served as an Associate Counsel at Kpemka & Co PRUC, where he represented clients in civil and commercial litigation and dispute resolution. Outside of law practice, Mr Azure has worked as a graduate assistant at the University of Ghana School of Law, where he researched juvenile sentencing reform, contract theory, and legal theory. He also serves as a Junior Research Fellow in Law and Policy at the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) in Ghana, where he provided research assistance to Ghana’s Constitution Review Committee in the 2025 Constitution review process. Mr Azure is a Fulbright scholar and a recipient of the William Carroll Brown Jr. scholarship at the University of Georgia, Athens, USA, where he is pursuing a Master’s in Law.
Dr. Kevin Kwaku is Madam Rebecca Agroh’s eldest grandchild. He is Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology for Dartmouth Health, New Hampshire, USA. Kevin earned his BSc in Physiology (1st Class Honours) from McGill University (Montreal, Canada) and MD and PhD (in Pharmacology) degrees (Pharmacology) from Columbia University, New York City, USA. He completed Internal Medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Cardiac Electrophysiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, both teaching hospitals of Harvard University, Boston, USA. He is a past Chief of Cardiology for Kaiser Permanente, Hawaii region. Dr. Kwaku is a nationally recognized expert in the management of cardiac arrhythmias, and author of multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, webinars and other presentations in the field. He also has strong interests in healthcare workforce development and equity in healthcare delivery. Dr. Kwaku serves on the editorial boards of several top journals in his field, including as Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Heart Association. Dr. Kwaku is a past Governor of the American College of Cardiology and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Association of Black Cardiologists, Inc (Washington DC, USA). He is married and proud father of four. Great-grandchildren of Rebecca Agroh’s.
Dr. Florence Chambas is an UNCTAD International Master Trainer and the proprietor of Active Brain Training Centre in Tamale. She has been a Trainer and a facilitator with almost two decades of experience in entrepreneurship and management.
She is passionate about impacting the youth, women, persons with disabilities and entrepreneurs in acquiring the 10 Personal Entrepreneurial Competencies of successful entrepreneurs which is universal to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. Empowering the youth, women and persons with disabilities develop an entrepreneurial mindset can bring transformational improvements in their lives, finance, health, and communities.
Ernestina Mensah is a seasoned finance professional with over a decade of experience in banking, market risk management, and economic policy. She serves as Head of Market Risk at Bank of Africa Ghana, overseeing balance sheet and liquidity risks, regulatory compliance, and financial stability initiatives. Ernestina is a Chartered Accountant (ICAG), CIMA affiliate (UK), and member of ACI Financial Markets Association (Paris). Beyond her corporate role, she is the Founder of the Glimmer of Hope Foundation, which empowers young women through education and skills training. Passionate about financial inclusion, youth empowerment, and sustainable development, Ernestina brings strategic insight and a strong commitment to advancing women’s socio-economic transformation in Africa.
Gyan-Baffour Akosua Owusu is an Economist and social development advocate dedicated to advancing women’s empowerment and child welfare across Ghana. She currently serves with the Bank of Ghana’s Research Department, where she contributes to national trade and policy analysis. Beyond her professional expertise in economics and finance, Akosua plays an active leadership role in community development through the Childlift Aid Foundation (CAF), championing quality education, healthcare, and livelihood support for women and children in rural areas. A recipient of the 2022 CAF Management Choice Award for immense commitment towards the goal of promoting quality healthcare and education among rural children, she brings to every role a blend of analytical excellence, strategic vision, and a deep passion for creating inclusive and equitable opportunities for women and children.
Ms. Geneva Kwaku is a great-granddaughter of Madam Rebecca Agroh. She is currently enrolled in the joint MD-MPH Program at the Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to this, she conducted research on the immune response to fungal infections in the Vyas Laboratory in the Division of Infectious Disease at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, co-authoring several papers in leading scientific journals. Geneva is a graduate of Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, USA, with a concentration in Human Biology and minor in Anthropology of Global Health. Geneva has a longstanding and demonstrated interest in women’s health equity and advancement worldwide.
Manase Kwame Delali Agroh, one of the numerous nephews of the late Rebecca Agroh. I was born in 1975 to Daniel Agroh and Juliana Kwame Agroh. I am the first of six siblings and just celebrated my 20th anniversary Married to Musa Agroh. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Ghana. I also graduated with a Master of Arts in Public Administration with a focus on Information Technology Management and budgeting from the University of Baltimore, where I studied from 2002 through 2004. Currently, I am employed as a Program Coordinator at Sheppard Pratt, where I have been for over a decade, leading a team of mental health specialists. Furthermore, I am a self-employed entrepreneur in the logistics and freight management industry, where I provide services to various individuals from the West African subregion.
Allen Jubin is an accomplished business executive with an established record of delivering value across advanced markets and emerging economies. Recognized for his strategic vision and results-oriented leadership, he has led numerous transformative initiatives that enhance organisational performance and drive sustainable growth. With expertise spanning finance, business transformation, technology, capital restructuring, and agribusiness, Allen brings a uniquely diversified perspective to every enterprise he supports.
