Dr. Kwaku holds a PhD in Political Economy (with concentration in Development Management and Public Policy & International Business and Relations) from University of Toronto and a BA in Economics and Political Science from McGill University, Canada. He also attended the Harvard Business School. He is Ghana’s Honorary Consul – General in Tanzania and Special Advisor to the former president H.E. Benjamin Mkapa.

He has more than three decades of experience as an economist with the World Bank Group where he held many senior positions including Chief MIGA Africa Representative. He has also taken up several advisory roles in Africa. Between 1995 and 1998, he was seconded from the World Bank Group as Advisor to the Namibian Government.

He was very instrumental in the establishment of Export Processing Zones, Small and Medium Enterprise Development, business advisory services and the restructuring of the Namibia Development Corporation. He also served as an Economic Advisor to president Mkapa of Tanzania to whom he gave counsel on a wide range of African and global developmental challenges with focus on privatization, private sector development (SME), trade policy, and investment climate. He was a Special Advisor to the Board of Trustees of the Investment Climate Facility (ICF); a multi–party $550m facility focused on making Africa a business destination.

Dr. Kwaku was the Lead Consultant on the ECOWAS Vision 2020 Blueprint Project which highlighted critical pillars for growth and regional integration as well as the Lead Consultant on the Pro-Invest/COMESA – EU-ACP program. He currently chairs the boards of many organizations including but not limited to Bayport Tanzania, Brooks Asset Management, McOttley Holdings, Logiciel Ghana limited and Acreaty Ghana Ltd.
